Eric Fitzsimmons, PhD

Research Consultant

Dr. Eric Fitzsimmons brings over 10 years of experience in research program management and is an educator of future civil engineers. He works to improve the safety of all modes of transportation that traverse our country through research, education, and policy development—reducing the number and severity of accidents. Dr. Fitzsimmons is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Kansas State University and holds two college-level endowed faculty positions. He is a research authority in many areas of transportation safety, operational effects of roadway geometrics, law enforcement safety, vehicle crash causation, and technical transfer programs in both highway and railroad applications.

Dr. Fitzsimmons currently serves as consultant and advisor for the leadership of TREDS in the areas of railroad engineering and commercial motor vehicle safety. He obtained his doctorate degree from Iowa State University and is a Professional Engineer (P.E.) for the state of Kansas.
