Commercial Drivers
Although commercial vehicles make up 5.24% of roadway users, they are often over-represented in crashes involving fatalities and serious injuries. TREDS offers courses and hosts events that aim to prevent CMV-involved crashes due to distracted and substance-impaired driving.
Distracted Driving Course
Distracted driving has been shown to be a major cause of large truck crashes and near-crashes, despite commercial drivers being some of the most highly trained professionals on the road. Two course options are available to increase driving safety awareness and decrease distracted driving behavior, specifically the use of cell phones among commercial drivers. Substance-Impaired Driving Course
Substance-impaired driving is a serious concern that adversely affects CMV fleets, their drivers, and all roadway users. Drug use impairs a driver’s cognitive and motor skills, making it unsafe to operate a commercial vehicle. This course aims to improve roadway safety by preventing drug-impaired driving among commercial driver's license holders. Click below for course details.
Summits and Webinars
In March 2024, TREDS hosted a summit for fleet safety leaders to address the critical issue of substance-related safety and compliance among CDL holders in California. Click below for event details.
