Linda Hill, MD, MPH

Dr. Hill’s leadership provides direction for the program’s research, training, and service projects that aim to reduce injuries and deaths resulting from traffic collisions. Her areas of interest include older drivers, teen drivers, distracted driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. With over 30 years as a practicing physician, she brings lessons from the community to her injury prevention activities. Dr. Hill conveys her expertise through public speaking engagements, publications, and teaching. She is recognized nationally as a contributor to prevention research.

Jill Rybar, MPH
Deputy Director
With over 30 years of experience in the public health arena, Jill brings expertise in program management, training development, and research to the team. She directs projects to promote safety for all roadway users. Jill is a member of California’s Strategic Highway Safety Plan Steering Committee and serves on several challenge areas. She is a presenter and coauthor on research projects.

Jessica Williams, MAEd
Program Manager
Jessica brings over ten years of experience in adult education, training, and project management to the team. She manages the delivery of education and training programs for safety professionals in the commercial driving industry, with specific focus on distracted driving prevention. Jessica collaborates with safety experts to develop curriculum, review program concepts, and ensure that content is current and relevant.

Jana Jahns, MEd
Education Specialist
Jana’s background in health education, training, and teaching at the college level adds a host of experience to the team. She is responsible for the communication and delivery of professional and public education programs. Jana oversees curriculum development and serves as liaison to project consultants.

Ryan Moran, MD, MPH
Physician Advisor
Dr. Moran provides direct clinical care for primary and geriatric care patients at the UC San Diego Department of Internal Medicine. He also works with the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health where he is actively engaged in population-based research as it relates to traffic safety and aging safely. He is interested in risk reduction and behavior modification, and contributes to the development of curriculum for clinicians that promotes driving safety. He is engaged in process and outcome based metrics for quality improvement, especially as it relates to patient outcomes and translations to policy development.

Lesley Phillips, MPH
Marketing & Training Specialist
Lesley has a background in public health education and promotion and has developed online learning programs for various health-related projects. She develops and implements marketing campaigns to expand the reach of TREDS traffic safety curriculum. Lesley collaborates with stakeholders to identify programming needs and conducts program evaluation.

Research Project Manager
With over 10 years of experience, Renée brings expertise in quantitative and qualitative research and project management. Her background is in survey development, data collection, data analysis, and scientific writing. Renée oversees public health research projects for TREDS.

D. R. “Ike” Iketani
Traffic Safety Consultant
A retired California Highway Patrol Assistant Chief with over 32 years of experience, Mr. Iketani is a recognized authority on traffic safety issues. His involvement with statewide and national committees and task forces, participation in multi-disciplinary investigations and development of instructional programs provides critical insight into training delivery methodology and strategic planning. Mr. Iketani is proud to be a part of the TREDS team to share his expertise for the improvement of traffic safety.

Nicole Herrera
Education Specialist
Nicole brings a background in curriculum development and teaching, as well as healthcare management. She collaborates with the team to design and implement evidence-based interventions to reduce unsafe driving behaviors amongst commercial drivers. She works mainly on projects addressing impaired driving in commercial drivers.
