Community Engagement Coordinator

Alexxa Casanova is a Community Engagement Coordinator at TREDS, where she plays a key role in supporting project staff and fostering collaboration with Native American communities. She serves as a vital liaison, ensuring that culturally appropriate perspectives are integrated into program initiatives, particularly in areas like Native wellness, traffic safety, and injury prevention. Her work focuses on building strong partnerships and enhancing the effectiveness of public health interventions within tribal communities.

With extensive experience in Native wellness initiatives in Indian Country, Alexxa has contributed to several significant projects under the UCSD School of Public Health, including those addressing the unique challenges and strengths of tribal populations. Her background includes program implementation, strategic analysis, and community engagement, positioning her as a critical asset to the TREDS team.

Alexxa holds an Associate of Arts in Native American Studies and is a proud member of the Kumeyaay Nation. She brings authentic insight to her work. Additionally, she serves on the board of Indigenous Regeneration, further demonstrating her commitment to empowering Indigenous communities. She also contributes to the UCSD CAITIE and CHWAP grants, advancing public health and injury prevention efforts across diverse populations.
