Chelsea Isom, MD, MPH

Physician Researcher

Dr. Chelsea Isom is an Associate Physician at the Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity. She is a Co-Principal investigator and project leader for numerous research collaborations and grants, focusing on transportation safety. She has ten years of research focused on public health with 44 peer-reviewed papers to date. She has spent the last two years focused on transportation safety with an emphasis on older driver safety, railroad safety, and suicide prevention. 

Dr. Isom obtained her first Bachelors in Chemistry from Boise State University, and her second in Clinical Laboratory Science from Idaho State University. She graduated from the University of Nevada  School of Medicine. She was a general surgery resident at Vanderbilt University Medical Center from 2013-2021. During this time she obtained a Master’s of Public Health from Vanderbilt University. She transitioned her career to focus on public health and completed a Preventive Medicine and Public Health residency at the University of California San Diego in 2023. Dr. Isom is a board-certified physician in Preventive Medicine and Public Health.
