CMV Drivers: The Life-Changing Impact of a Positive Drug Test

January 23, 2025

Driving under the influence of drugs presents a significant danger to all roadway users. In addition to the deaths or injuries resulting from preventable crashes, CMV drivers who test positive for drugs can lose their jobs and face financial hardship. According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse, more than 61,000 drug violations were reported in 2024.

In response to this issue, TREDS developed the Just Drive: Deliver Drug-Free course, which aims to improve roadway safety by preventing drug-impaired driving among commercial driver's license holders.
