TREDS Showcases Cutting-Edge Traffic Safety Research

On May 7, 2025, the Transportation Research and Education for Driving Safety (TREDS) Center joined the UC San Diego Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science’s Annual Public Health Research Day to showcase its latest advancements in traffic safety. The event celebrated groundbreaking student and staff research across the university.

TREDS presented two major research initiatives: the Drivewyze study, examining commercial vehicle driver behavior in work zones, presented by Carly Glasson; and the Acusensus project, which focuses on using AI technologies to detect dangerous driving behaviors, presented by Nicole Kam. Both projects underscore TREDS’ commitment to leveraging data and innovation to enhance roadway safety.

Team members Richard Garfein and Julia McMillan also served as mentors during the event, supporting the development of future public health researchers.
