Impaired Driving

Alcohol and drug use is a nationwide roadway safety concern, as almost one in three traffic deaths involve an impaired driver. TREDS offers information, tools, and resources to prevent teens and adults from driving under the influence.

Teens: Alcohol and Cannabis

Vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for teens, with a quarter of those crashes involving alcohol. Young drivers with a blood alcohol content of .08% are 17 times more likely to die in a crash when compared to those who had not been drinking. DUI crashes are 100% preventable. Adults: Cannabis and Prescription Medications

DUI of any impairing substance, including cannabis and prescription drugs, is a major cause of vehicle crashes. While people may think they are safe to drive after consuming a drug, their driving performance may still be impaired, increasing their crash risk. Click below for course details.
